Welcome! Rockport residents can obtain a library card by visiting the library with a photo ID and proof of Rockport residence (such as a driver’s license or state ID card with your Rockport home address). For residents of other communities, or any Massachusetts resident looking for immediate-access electronic resources, please see the FAQ and resources below.
More details about Rockport Library cards:
Children’s cards are issued when the child (under 13) is accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who has proper identification and proof of Rockport residency.
A library card is needed each time you borrow materials from the library or to access most of the online services via the Internet. Your card ensures accurate and fast checkout, enables you to borrow materials when our computer system is down, and protects your privacy at the Main Desk.
There is no fee to replace a lost or damaged card. Remember, you are responsible for all materials borrowed on your library card!
Are you a resident of another Massachusetts city or town?
The Rockport Public Library is a member of the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC). If you already have a library card at one of the libraries in our network, it will work here in Rockport; there is no need for further registration. For residents of other MA communities, you can obtain a card from your hometown library, and then library staff can enter that card into our system to enable borrowing privileges. As with our local patrons, we’ll need a photo ID with a current home address to complete the process. If a resident of other MA communities visits without a hometown library card, a 30-day temporary card can be issued (as with other cards, a photo ID with current home address is needed).

Massachusetts residents who do not have a library card registered at a Merrimac Valley Library Consortium (MVLC) member library can sign up for an MVLC e-card, which provides immediate access to electronic resources. An e-card cannot be used to borrow physical library materials.
Massachusetts residents age 13 and up, including those with an MVLC card or e-card, can also sign up for a Boston Public Library e-card.
Are you a resident of another state or country?
