Join author, Kristin Czarnecki in conversation about her latest book, Encounters with Inscriptions, with Rae Franceour, writer and co-founder of Literary Cape Ann on Monday, June 2nd at 5:30 p.m. in the Brenner room.

When Kristin Czarnecki lost both her parents within nine months, she sought solace in books–but not just any books. In Encounters with Inscriptions, Kristin writes about the books inscribed and given to her by her parents over the years–an array of novels, short stories, poetry, nature writing, and a cookbook. As she explores each book, Kristin focuses not only on loss but on the complexities of childhood, on family and friendship, and on the the rewards of a life spent reading.

About Kristin Czarnecki – The author of two memoirs, Encounters with Inscriptions and The First Kristin: The Story of a Naming, and a chapbook, Sliced. Her creative nonfiction, poetry, literary criticism, and book reviews have been published in a variety of venues. She holds a Ph.D. in English and is a past president of the International Virginia Woolf Society. Currently, she is the executive director of the Rockport Art Association & Museum. She lives in Gloucester.

 

Rae Padilla Francoeur is a journalist and author who’s managed a variety of newspapers and magazines, and served as Creative Services Director at PEM and Editorial Manager at the MFA. Rae also started Literary Cape Ann and works with a committed team to present free, exciting literary events on Cape Ann.
