Libby Pilots New Features

|

OverDrive recently introduced two new features to its Libby app: Deep Search and Notify Me.

Deep Search allows patrons to discover titles not yet in the MVLC collection by searching the entire catalog. It will also show a title’s availability in other library networks saved to a patron’s Libby app (for example, Mass. library networks that offer reciprocal lending). The Deep Search filter is automatically applied if no results are found in the MVLC collection. If a search retrieves fewer than 100 titles, a patron can manually apply the filter to expand results.

Notify Me replaces the legacy Recommend-to-Libraries feature. It lets patrons tag items not in the collection to indicate their interest and receive an alert if MVLC or another saved network purchases a copy. Once alerted, the patron can place a hold on the item or borrow it if available. Creating a Notify Me tag does not guarantee that MVLC will purchase the title, nor does it automatically place the patron on a holds list.
