In accordance with our mission statement, the Rockport Public Library accepts requests to provide space for the purpose of announcing items of general interest from non-profit organizations and government agencies on our bulletin boards and in our community area. The fact that postings and publications are made available at the Library does not in any way constitute endorsement of their content by the Rockport Public Library, the Library Board of Trustees, or the Town of Rockport.
Before making it available, Library staff members review and approve the information to ensure it is consistent with the Library Mission Statement.
Announcements will remain posted until the event advertised has occurred, or, if no date, as space allows.
Where space is needed, events and information specifically concerning Rockport will take priority.
All areas of the library, aside from the bulletin boards and community area, are reserved for the distribution of library material only.
Library staff members will approve postings and make space for publications for:
- Non-profit organizations.
- Cultural and educational information.
- Town of Rockport or state and federal information.
- The Library does not allow postings and publications for:
- For-profit and commercial advertising.
- Postings, flyers, brochures, and publications for goods and services for sale or trade.
- Political petitions may not be left in the Library, nor may signatures be sought from either patrons or staff within the building or on its premises.
The library reserves the right to remove materials judged to be inconsistent with this policy. Materials may be added or withdrawn at the discretion of the Library Director.
